Founder & Principal Consultant

MKJ Assurance was founded by Michael Jones, a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner with more than 16 years' experience helping organisations improve safety, quality, environmental management and operational resilience across construction, telecommunications and critical infrastructure.

Starting his career in demolition and civil engineering, Michael has worked through every level of the profession — from site-based safety roles to consultancy and ultimately executive leadership. This breadth of experience gives him a practical understanding of the challenges organisations face, allowing him to provide solutions that are both compliant and commercially realistic.

Today, Michael is Head of SHEQ for one of the UK's leading business telecommunications providers, where he leads the organisation's Safety, Health, Environment and Quality strategy, oversees integrated management systems, and supports senior leadership in managing risk, governance and operational performance across a national contractor network.

Prior to this, Michael spent several years as a Senior HSEQ Consultant, supporting organisations across construction, engineering and infrastructure with ISO management systems, audits, contractor assurance, risk management, training and compliance improvement. His earlier career included delivering safety leadership across major infrastructure and construction projects, including nationally significant developments.

Alongside his executive role, Michael founded MKJ Assurance to provide organisations with experienced, senior-level assurance support without the cost of employing a full-time SHEQ leader.

Michael believes compliance should never become bureaucracy. His approach focuses on practical, proportionate solutions that protect people, improve performance and enable organisations to grow with confidence. Whether supporting a business through ISO certification, developing governance frameworks, improving contractor assurance or acting as an outsourced SHEQ lead, clients work directly with Michael throughout every stage of the engagement.
